Christmas and New year seasons are always offer markets to the products of small scale entrepreneurs. Smt. Aisha Rahim hailing from the Palakkad district of Kerala is one such Kudumbashree micro entrepreneur. She is the owner of ‘Home Style Hotel and Bake’ situated at Palakkad. For Aisha Rahim, Christmas season offer such a golden opportunity. Aisha is the member of Nandanam Kudumbashree Neighborhood Group and for the last four years and she is also the member of Homestyle Cafeshree Café unit.
How Home Style Hotel and Bake was evolved?
Aisha happened to take part in the baking training class extended by Kudumbashree Palakkad District Mission during July 2018. As she had an interest towards cooking, she attended the training with her heart and soul. After the training class, Aisha became confident of herself she could earn a livelihood of her own by preparing cakes, chocolates and other sweets. It was the with the sole support of her husband Rahim, that she launched the ‘Home Style Hotel and Bake’ on November 2018.
Aisha’s cakes were of high demand from the beginning itself. On starting the enterprise, she had got as many orders. Black forest cakes, white forest cakes, red forest cakes, tea cakes, cupcakes and marbles cakes prepared by her are of high demand among the customers. The demand for the cakes had increased during the Christmas- New Year season. The eggless cake is the main specialty of Aisha’s Home Style Hotel and Bake. Home Style Hotel and Bake had got so many orders during the Christmas time and Aisha got good market for her products.
There are so many entrepreneurs in Kudumbashree Mission who mainly focus on seasonal markets. Aisha is one such entrepreneur who had turned her passion into livelihood with the help of Kudumbashree Mission.

Kudumbashree had played a key role in changing her life positively by building the gap between her skill and career. With the assistance of Kudumbashree Mission, Aisha found the way to turn passion into an income. Kudumbashree District Missions uses different strategies to help the micro entrepreneurs to get market during the festive seasons.
Kudumbashree Malappuram District Mission applied a different strategy to find market for the micro entrepreneurs who bakes cakes and they organized a cake fest for finding market for them.
Kudumbashree Malappuram District Mission had also conducted a cake fest and a total sale of Rs. 4.12 lakh was recorded at the cake fest. More than 1400 people visited the cake fest and the exhibition and sales of different types of cakes including instant cake, lava cake, black forest cake, white forest cake, gold cake, vancho cake, strawberry cake etc were arranged. Sale of wine, pudding, lollipop, french snacks were also arranged there. 26 Micro Enterprises from various places across the district became part of the cake fest. The cake fest was wholeheartedly welcomed by the public.
