Title : Mother Bird  (Oil Pastel by Julian Lenju)

Julian Lenju, son of  Capt. Lenju Paul and Dr Jennifer Sakhya is a student of Dawn International School in Ernakulam, Kerala.  He is in the sixth grade now. He likes  painting and indulges in it when he visits his grandmother.
His early paintings where imitations. Being untutored, he tries to imitate what he sees. He made his first painting on a hard board when he was three years old. It is proudly displayed in his grandmother's house. He and his younger brother communicate in a language that is close to Hindi, a register the siblings created, which only they understand. Apart from painting, he  is also keen on his studies and loves playing football.
A silent observer, he is fond of animals especially cats.

I  am Juan Lenju, brother  of Julian Lenju. I am in the fourth grade at Dawn International  School. I am nine years old, kind and friendly, and looking out for adventures. I like making new friends, swimming, playing football and drawing. I sketch very fast and most of my drawings end up like cartoons. That is what my grandma says. I am happy helping others and animals and even insects. I like learning new things and even languages. I communicate in Hindi with my sibling, which only we understand. Sometimes, I create on-the-spot short stories and recite them to the amazement of my granny, who says it is spoken word poetry. My aim, now is to become a footballer. I also like to make people around me laugh and smile.  I like being called Dany, which is my pet name.

WAITING
Anura Parida

The wind passes by and all I go is wait,
Pondering about the senses of life.
And the unseen world it creates,
Waiting is important yet ideal.
It’s not the most pleasant experience to feel,
Yet the world revolves around it like a wheel.
Waiting is like a long pause from reality,
You start to notice things in and around your vicinity.
but sometimes this wait feels like infinity,
Even if you know the consequence,
The poor mind has to wait.
No matter what, tie will always dominate,
It is because we wait that our memories ornate.
Waiting seems longer,
When desperation floods the mind.
But when the will isn’t strong,
The future comes running just on time.
Waiting is a funny concept for me,
The most hypocritic thing, definitely.
But without this phoney tarry,
A long life contrasting a short one, won’t vary.

Art, in all its forms, holds a special place in my heart, and I enjoy sketching and painting to complement my poetic musings. Thank you for reading, and I look forward to sharing this beautiful world of creative writing with you all!

THRUST - HEATWAVE HIGHWAYS – PART 6
Rohith V Rahul

“Yes, I accept,” I said to the lady.
“Very well, then. You have chosen the correct decision, at least for now.”
I was puzzled. “For now?” It made no sense whatsoever.
After that, more thoughts were swirling in my head. “Did I make the right choice? Was it wrong? Will I die?”
Well, I was content with my decision for now.
I got out of the shaky warehouse and got into my TerrainMachine. Using it, I got back to my house.
A few hours had passed.
I had told my wife and kids a lie so that I could go along with my plan.
I don’t remember exactly what the lie was, but I don’t have any interest in remembering it since I’m not really a good liar, and I don’t think that’s something worth memorising.
All I do remember was that I told them I was going to Rome and that I wanted to explore the architecture there.
So, I packed my bags and bid farewell to my family, but there was one problem—I didn’t remember where I was supposed to meet them.
I decided to go to the old warehouse again because I had overheard someone mentioning it, and that day, I decided to trust my gut.
And, in fact, I took a gamble, and it had paid off!
There, I saw Agent 01
“Hello, Agent,” I said.
“Welcome, Hrithik. I have been waiting for you,” he replied.
“Really?” I asked.
“Yes, of course,” he assured me.
“So, now where do I go?” I asked.
“Well, to the city,” he said.
“The city? But wouldn’t that make us a bigger target for someone trying to assassinate me?” I asked.
“Well, yes, but you are going to get a disguise,” he replied.
“Oh, I understand that, but won’t that be a little tiresome? I mean, I have to wear the disguise for a long period of time,” I said worriedly.
“Yes, I understand your worry, but listen. It’s done using cutting-edge technology. Basically, you’re going to transform into a new person. Also, did I mention that you are going to be the first subject of this experiment? It’s called Advanced Disguise,” he replied.
I don’t know what changed, but even though the agent was trying to calm me down, it only made me more worried.
“But how will I get this done? Is there a machine inside the base?” I asked.
“No, we have an agent stationed within the city. They will do the make—I mean, the Advanced Disguise,” he replied.
“Also, you will not be entering in your car. Get in the same jeep; I’ll tell you more while we get there,” he added.
As I got into the jeep with my belongings, I noticed the interior.
It was very dark, and many agents were sitting around me.
“So, I have one thing to tell you—something very important,” he said.
“Hmm, what is it?” I replied.
“You will no longer be you, and it isn’t for a day. It’s for a month, probably,” he told me.
