Title : My Fish (Pen Drawing by by Julian Lenju)

Julian Lenju, son of Capt. Lenju Paul and Dr Jennifer Sakhya is a student of Dawn International School in Ernakulam, Kerala. He is in the sixth grade now. He likes painting and indulges in it when he visits his grandmother.
His early paintings where imitations. Being untutored, he tries to imitate what he sees. He made his first painting on a hard board when he was three years old. It is proudly displayed in his grandmother's house. He and his younger brother communicate in a language that is close to Hindi, a register the siblings created, which only they understand. Apart from painting, he is also keen on his studies and loves playing football.
A silent observer, he is fond of animals especially cats.

MY PAINTING
Juan Lenju

I am Juan Lenju, brother of Julian Lenju. I am in the fourth grade at Dawn International School. I am nine years old, kind and friendly, and looking out for adventures. I like making new friends, swimming, playing football and drawing. I sketch very fast and most of my drawings end up like cartoons. That is what my grandma says. I am happy helping others and animals and even insects. I like learning new things and even languages. I communicate in Hindi with my sibling, which only we understand. Sometimes, I create on-the-spot short stories and recite them to the amazement of my granny, who says it is spoken word poetry. My aim, now is to become a footballer. I also like to make people around me laugh and smile. I like being called Dany, which is my pet name.

Chapter 1
“Finally, it’s over,” I said as I boarded my car.
It was a quiet car. A 7 Series I had picked up a few months ago, loaded with technology and comfort. Sure, I did pay some good money for it, but still—it’s a good way to spend your hard?earned money.
I got on the road, but luckily there wasn’t much traffic, so I could reach my home quickly.
My name is Hrithik, and I work as an architect. I work extremely hard, and by God’s grace I earn a higher?than?average salary. If you haven’t guessed already, I love cars.
I am very settled. I have a wife and two kids who live with me.
Fifteen minutes later, I reached my home, parked my car in the garage, and went upstairs to the living room.
It was a warm and cozy place. I didn’t go too overboard, nor did I go too shabby. I wanted to have that feeling you get when you go to a high?class restaurant.
It was lit up by warm yellow lights. There was also a massive three?seater sofa, and besides that, two other similarly sized sofas, with a massive circular glass table in the middle—meant to mimic the types used in offices.
I went into the kitchen and saw my wife cooking that night’s dinner.
“Where are the kids?” I asked her.
“They are probably in their rooms or something,” my wife said.
My wife’s name is Anurima. She is a renowned doctor. Her complexion was fair, untouched by pimples or scratches—except for her left knee, which was scarred after she fell off her scooter a few months back.
She wore a black jacket and an olive?green shirt with dark?coloured pants.
“Can you call the kids for dinner?” Anurima asked me.
I went upstairs and knocked at my daughter’s room.
The door opened to reveal a teenage girl in her 16s. She wore a cream?coloured pinafore dress with dark blue jeans.
This is my daughter, Adhira. She studies well in school and is always scrolling on her phone—or at least that’s what I see.
“What, Dad? I got good marks this time, so can you please let me be?” she said.
“Dinner,” I said back to her.
“Okay,” she responded.
“Also, make sure to call your brother, okay?” I told her.
“Okay,” she replied.
Eight minutes later, we were all at the dinner table.
My son is Aarav. He was a tall and muscular person in his early 17s. He wore a blue shirt and black pants.
After we all ate our food, we went to sleep. I went to the bedroom.
I got there early and turned the AC on. Then I had a warm bath and got ready for sleep.
I lay in my bed while the AC was running at 18°C, but I fell asleep, so I couldn’t check if Anurima came or not.
The next day I woke up and got ready for office.
I wore my regular outfit to the office—a black suit and a white shirt. I wore black pants and shined, polished black shoes.
I got into a different car—a 2019 luxury off?roader, which I had picked up when I got my promotion. That promotion allowed me to make the amount of money I make today.
It had a plush white interior, which was super comfortable—at least for me.
I said goodbye to my wife and kids and headed for the highway.
It was the middle of April, arguably the peak of the summer season, and because of that, sweltering hot outside.
I was driving nice and smoothly when I saw it—a car that put rash driving into absolute nothingness.
It was a midsize sedan, red in colour, with a massive object hooked onto its front that could only be assumed as an extension of the engine.
I was cruising at 87 km/h according to my speedometer, which was pretty fast, yes, I do admit—but still, it was the highway, and aren’t highways meant for getting places fast?
That guy must have been doing 130 or something, which, mind you, I think is illegal.
He was overtaking cars left and right, and the gap between us was gradually closing.
He was in the lane right next to me when suddenly he moved to my lane.
He expected me to move, but I didn’t.
All was set for a crash—and then it happened.
A loud explosion filled my ears…
