RUNNY PART – IV – “MYSTERY IN PLAINS”

Rohith V Rahul

Today, many people claim that crows are just little birds and that they are superior to them.
Although their last claim is true, one crow decided to break that rule.
Using his intelligence to pull off various schemes, his name is Runny, and this is one of his many adventures.
After becoming rich from the old temple, Runny decided to go on an adventure to discover new places and meet new friends.
“Where should I go?” Runny said aloud.
He thought and thought for what felt like an eternity.
Then he got an idea.
“I should go somewhere no crow has ever gone before… like the “Gloomy plains”!”
After deciding on the plains, Runny flew to visit the nests of his friends.
The first friend he visited was Brian.
Brian’s nest had a cozy vibe.
In the corner was a large heap of fruits.
It also had a little place to sleep and a main area.
His nest was made out of eucalyptus branches and was perched on a eucalyptus tree.
It was filled with fragrance.
Runny invited Brian to meet him at his nest at 4 PM.
Brian agreed, though he said he’d come at 6 PM instead.
After thanking Brian, Runny flew to his next friend’s place, Ethan’s nest.
After flying for a while, he finally spotted it.
Ethan’s nest had a more blank, minimalistic vibe.
In the corner was a large heap of fruit waste and grains.
Like Brian’s nest, it had a little place to sleep and a main area.
His nest was made out of banyan branches and was situated on a peepal tree.
After thanking Ethan, Runny flew off toward another friend’s place, but he realized that Brian had already told their other friend, Noah, about the plan.
At 4 PM that day, all of Runny’s friends, Brian, Ethan, and Noah, met up with him.
Although they refused at first, Runny managed to somehow, someway, convince them to go along with him.
They all decided to go with him on his adventure.
Runny offered to pay them, but they refused.
“We’re your friends,” they said.
“You don’t need to pay us.”
Runny also told them to bring a small sack full of food, water, and other necessities.
The next day, the group arrived, each carrying a small sack just like Runny had advised.
Inside the sacks were food, water, and other essentials.
Then, they set out on their expedition.
They flew and flew and flew until they arrived at the edge of the land.
They took small breaks every once in a while, where they ate and drank water.
“Finally, we’ve arrived,” said Brian.
“We’ve reached the tip!” echoed the rest of the team.
The group began flying over the plains, from dawn till dusk, from beginning to end, never stopping.
Eventually, night fell.
“Hey, I’m getting tired,” said Ethan.
They found a mango tree and slept on it, taking a well-earned rest.
That night, Runny had a strange dream.
He dreamt that someone stole one of the sacks in a place that looked very much like the one they were sleeping in.
The thief flew off to Runny’s left.
Suddenly, Runny woke up.
He checked his sack.
It was still there.
He quickly woke the others and told them to leave.
Everyone grabbed their sacks except for Noah.
His was missing.
They searched all around, but the sack was nowhere to be found.
Runny then told the group about his dream.
“So your dream wasn’t a dream after all,” said the others.
“It was real.”
“Let’s go look for the thief!” they all agreed.
The wanderers searched high and low until they spotted a shady-looking figure.
“Hello,” Runny called out.
“We’d like to know about a certain gang of robbers.”
“Would you like to crush them?” the figure asked, almost amused.
“Yes,” they all replied.
“Well, I used to be part of that gang.
There’s only one gang that robs around this area,” the stranger said.
“It’s the Fighter Gang.
The Fighter Gang is such that they rob random birds for money.
They are ruthless, evil, and crooked.”
“We want to destroy it,” Runny and his friends said.
“Alright then.
The secret base of the Fighter Gang is inside that mountain over there.”
“It is headed by a ferocious eagle.
His name is Escadama.
Even though he has lost his prime, he’s still really fast,” the stranger said.
“Thank you, sir.
What’s your name?” Runny and his friends asked.
“My name is Ryan,” said Ryan.
The team thanked Ryan, then set off toward the mountain he pointed out.
They were determined to go inside and defeat the Fighter Gang once and for all.
They went inside and stealthily tiptoed through the base.
The base was advanced.
It had a large reserve of food, a luxurious sleeping complex, and a massive throne.
They tried to sneak their way in, but suddenly they heard a voice.
“Stop right there!” yelled a goon.
The goon called for backup and was able to send Runny and his friends into a cage.
“How do we escape?” asked Runny.
“We don’t know,” said the others.
Then suddenly there was a short sound, like someone approaching.
“It’s probably a guard,” said Noah.
Then a guard did appear and he spoke to them.
“Hey, I heard that you were sent by Ryan, right?”
“Yes, we were sent by Ryan,” Runny and his friends said.
“I’ll free you after Escadama calls you.
For now, take this key.
It will help you get free from this cage.”
Then he gave each of them a key.
“Thank you, sir,” Runny and his friends said.
After a short while, they were presented in front of their king, called Escadama.
“Who are you?” asked Escadama.
“I am  Runny, and these are my friends.”
Runny saw the lock and was able to put the key in it.
The cage door opened and Runny was a free bird.
His friends also did the same.
Then they started flying away.
“Where are you going?” Escadama shouted, flying after them.
Escadama was an eagle.
He could fly fast and was much faster than Runny.
No matter how many times Runny dodged or changed direction, Escadama was able to predict him.
“Hey Brian and the others, get out of here as fast as you can!” shouted Runny.
“Yes, Runny!” said Brian, and the others followed.
They all flew off in separate directions.
Runny flew and perched on a truck.
Exhausted and tired, he sat there.
Escadama barreled toward him.
It looked as if Escadama had finally caught Runny.
But Runny swiftly moved out of the way.
Behind Runny was a massive bucket of glue, and Escadama flew straight into it.
“AHH! Help!” Escadama screamed out, but nobody answered him.
Runny met up with his friends.
While Runny was battling Escadama, they had snuck into the castle and retrieved Noah’s sack.
After this, Runny and the others headed home.
It was good to be back in the forest with trees and greenery.
Everyone on the adventure promised themselves that this would be an adventure they would never forget.
“We didn’t do one thing,” said Noah.
“What is it?” the group answered together.
“We forgot to destroy the Fighter Gang!”
“Oh yeah… maybe we’ll go there and destroy the Fighter Gang,” Runny said with a grin.
“But that’s a story for another time.”
