IF A STAR COULD SPEAK...
Hiya Khurana

Hey there, you lil tot!
I'm a tiny speck right above you,
Whether you notice or not,
I'm always keeping an eye on you!

None of your deeds are hidden from me,
Whether you cry for hours,
Or laugh in glee!

When the entire day goes sad and raging,
Spend some time star gazing,
Leave aside gadgets and technology,
Your mind will feel the utmost serenity!

I come to visit you everyday,
Feel free to share your thoughts with a star,
I'll never judge you in any way,
But will only try to heal your scar!

Give a happy ending to your stressful day,
Talk to me, and your tensions will flee!

I'm a friend in disguise,
Or a blessing in surprise!
Whether your life is black or blue,
I'm always there for you!

A FREE PARROT

Trishna Sahoo.

This small poem is written based on my experiengce on opening my school after two years of on line teaching. I have tried to inculcate a few of my feelings on the very first day of our off line classes in my poem entitled A FREE PARROT.

Again back to school, after imprisoned for two long years,

With so many plans, imaginations, dreams, joys and cheers.

Meeting our teachers and friends after a long break ,

Taking Corona Virus lightly was a great mistake.

All the emotions mixed and baked in a pie ,

But my excitement and joy was quite high.

Dancing, hugging, playing and talking with friends,

I just wished that this day never ends.

When met my teachers and touched their feet,

Got  blessings, hugs, kisses and so many treats.

A caged parrot for two years, now is free

Wants to fly in the sky and from tree to tree.

This was a much cherished and amazing day,

No more lock down, shutdown, let's pray.

Let's take pledge to put on a mask,

Whether inside or outside the class.

Trishna  ( Natuni ) , a class V student of Sai International School Bhubaneswar, born to engineer parents and doctor grand parents is a gifted child. A disciplined and determined learner she is, as a student, family member, speaker, writer and an Odisi dancer. She is blended with traditional and cultural values, spirituality, science and arts. A nature loving girl she has taken reading books and travelling as her hobbies. Her favourite dish is Chicken Biryiani prepared by her mother. Her motto of life is, " NEVER BE A DEFAULTER. " May God bless her.

MY CUTE KITTEN

Ritika Pradhan

Oh ! My cute little kitten,

Where did you go?

I am smelling you everywhere,

But can't get you any where.

Let me find you in the cupboard,

Oops, I spoiled all the clothes.

Let me search you in the garden,

But the grass were so long and thick ,

I took a scissors and cut them deep ,

But I couldn't get any  track of my kitten ,

Oops, all the grass is gone.

Then I  went out in search of her ,

Surprisingly found her playing with my friend's younger sister.

I took her to my house, opened the door with a "creek" sound ,

I saw my mother in an angry mood.

See ! Beta , " What a mess have you done?

Can I set it right alone? "

No mom ! without any work you were getting bored,

I left this puzzle for you, confidently to be solved.

Very nice poem written by Trishna, probably she has expressed the emotion of each child during lockdown and thereafter the reopening of school. The lockdown during the pandemic was like imprisonment and the children longed to be out of it and finally they are happy now like a free bird after their schools have re-opened. Amazing writing at such a young age!!

Trishna’s “FreeParrot” reminds me my school days after Summer Vacation. It’ was a mixed feeling of fear & excitement; my village school was a dull place for me!! I see changes as Trishna depicts her feelings. My blessing to young poets
