Selling fabrics and earning livelihood: Success Story of Munna fabrics

 

It was during 2010, Mrs. Shajitha Abdulkhader launched ‘Munnas fabrics’ her enterprise at Ernakulam district of Kerala.  The shop which was started as a small scale tailoring unit has now grown into a big textile shop that sell all types of clothing and fabrics. They are also taking up the stitching works as per the request of the customers.  It is the sheer hard work of Shajitha that brought her enterprise to success. Shajitha invested all her efforts in the enterprise and the result she got was mind blowing.  Munna fabrics has a great story of confidence and will power to share with others.

Evolution of Munna fabrics

Mrs. Shajitha Abdulkhader was forced to find a livelihood opportunity of their own when her husband returned from gulf. During then Kudumbashree came in support for her. By joining 4 other members of Zam zam neighbourhood group under Punnamattom CDS of Muvattupuzha  of Ernakulam district of Kerala. During the course of time, some of them stepped back. But that could not shake her. With the sheer support of her family and Kudumbashree Mission, she is running her enterprise successfully for the past 9 years.  Kudumbashree had given more than Rs 2 lakhs to Shajitha as financial assistance.

Smt. Shajitha Abdulkhader, who is the wife of Mr. Abdulkhader of Nedumpurath House started her enterprise by building a new room along with his house.  Later during 2015, she extended their enterprise by launching a room at Punnamattath town. Her children Fabi and Munna are extending her all support to her. he had appointed someone on daily wages basis as well.  In addition to that she also give the responsibility of stitching to three tailors when more orders are received.  After meeting all the expenses, Shajitha is getting more than Rs 15000 from Munna fabrics.  Her neighbourhood group is also extending her full support. As Kudumbashree Mission had always been a support for everyone those who were ready to find a livelihood of their own, the mission is also supporting the efforts of Shajitha.

Started as a small venture in a small panchayath in Kerala, the success that Munna Fabrics had attained is mind blowing. The success of this enterprise could be considered as an epitome of unaltered will power and confidence. With a gradual yet steady growth, Munna Fabrics had proved that belief in their selves could take anyone to greater success.  Mrs. Shajitha had therefore proved that anything is possible if one has the courage and strength to follow their own dreams.
