Julian Lenju, born on Nov 12, 2013, is the son of  Capt. Lenju Paul and Dr Jennifer Sakhya. He is a student of Dawn International School in Ernakulam, Kerala.  He is in the sixth grade now. He likes to paint and when he is with his grandmother, Prof. Latha Prem Sakhya, the famous painter, he indulges in it. He paints only what he likes. Being untutored, he tries to imitate what he sees. He made his first painting on a hard board when he was three years old. It is proudly displayed in his grandmother's house. He and his younger brother communicate in a language that is close to Hindi, a register the siblings created, which only they understand. Apart from painting, he  is also keen on playing football.

HER SPARKLING EYES

Anura Parida

Like a flower, she widens her smile,
Like a cloud, her cheeks, soften and shine,
Like a star, her eyes twinkle,
Twinkling with such divine,
Like the new Christmas snow, two front teeth glisten.

Her frock is vibrant in the hues of orange and yellow,
Her shoe squeaking and red.
She waddles between grass, green that of meadows,
A narrow path laid ahead.
Her mother walks behind silently,
“Where do you go, with that smile so lovely.”

The tiny little girl stretches out her little palm,
Her blunt tiny finger pointed towards the celestial body, above,
“To the moon, “she said in a voice so calm.
The mother's laughs was rich with love.
“Moon, “said the tiny girl with a blunt finger,
The richness of the mother's laugh blossomed a flower within her.

Though tired of the long walk,
Her mind wanted the moon to talk,
Her spirit is unwavering, stumbling as she walks.
Another voice, calls out knowing not where she goes,
To her glowing white sky friend, she shows.
The more she walks towards it, the more it seems to glow.

The small girl walks taking small steps,
Her eyes fixed on her goal.
On the path she waddles and runs with loud squeaky footsteps,
Her wish to meet her distant friend blessing her soul.
Oh! how the moon sparkles her eyes her mother told.
Ten years back that was me, this memory of my friend Moon is close to hold.

WHISPER OF WOODS

Trishna Sahoo

The emerald green of
               A waking woods,
The calls of nature ,
               Not well understood.
Ancient trees ,
             With branches strong,
For the bright sunlight ,
              All trees long .
Flowers bloom in
              Colourful fold,
In pants and trees of
              Generations old.
Gentle breeze drifts the
      Clouds in the blue sky,
Looks like a canvas painted
      In dark,white and gray.
The rain drops fall,
       With a gentle sound,
With a splash,
        Meeting the wet ground.
The trees all whisper,
       All secrets  told,
Of hidden paths and ,
       Treasures unfold .
The owls hoot,
        Deer roam,
For many animals,
        It's the universal home.
The wind that whispers ,
        Soft and low,
A lullaby where,
        Flowers glow.
Nature's beauty,
         A wondrous sight,
The whisper of woods,
        Make it more delight.

THE THREE ARTISTS

Ankit Sahoo

Once there lived three artists in a famous city. They were famous for their art. They were perfectly skilled. Each praised oneself claiming he was the best artist among them. One day they decided to have a fair competition to find out who was the best. There was a good prize for the winner. A judge was also appointed to decide the case. The competition started on time. The first one artist painted flowers. The second one painted a fruit and the third painted a curtain.

The judge observed and evaluated them deeply. At first he observed the flower on which a bee was sitting. Then he observed the fruit which an ox was there to eat. Both the pictures were very natural. He praised them. Then he observed the curtain. It was so natural that he tried to open it to enter the room. The flower was able to deceive the insect, the fruit deceived the beast, and the curtain was able to deceive an intellectual man like him. The judge realized that the picture of the curtain was most natural among them. That's why it was declared the first. Thus, the third artist was able to get the prize

JAGANNATH

Ankit Sahoo

In Puri's sacred streets, a chariot grand,
Carries the Lord, across the land.
!!1!!
Jagannath, the Savior, with a heart so bright,
Guides us on our journey, through day and night.
!!2!!
His eyes, like the ocean, deep and wide,
Reflect the universe, in all its pride.
!!3!!
His smile, a gentle breeze, that soothes the soul,
Inviting all to come, and make Him whole.
!!4!!
The rhythm of the drums, the chime of the bells,
Echo through the ages, as the chariot swells.
!!5!!
The devotees' fervor, a symphony of love,
As they sing and dance, sent from above.
!!6!!
In Jagannath's presence, all distinctions fade,
As He unites us all, in a bond of love displayed.
!!7!!
His message of equality, a beacon in the night,
Guides us on our path, shining with all His might.
!!8!!
So let us follow, the path He has laid,
And seek His guidance, as we journey through life's shade.
!!9!!
For in Jagannath's love, we find our peace,
And in His presence, our hearts release.
!!10!!

THE SOCIAL MEDIA TRAP
Ankit Sahoo

In the bustling city of Mumbai, there lived a young girl named Riya. She was a bright and ambitious 22-year-old, studying to be a journalist. Riya was like any other millennial, glued to her smartphone and active on all social media platforms.

One day, while scrolling through Instagram, Riya stumbled upon a post from her friend, Sofia. Sofia had posted a picture of herself at a luxurious resort in Bali, sipping cocktails by the pool. The caption read: "Living my best life!"

Riya couldn't help but feel a pang of jealousy. Why was Sofia's life so perfect? Why couldn't she be living a life like that?

Riya started to spend more and more time on social media, comparing her life to others. She would post pictures of herself, trying to get as many likes and comments as possible. She became obsessed with her online image, feeling like she needed to present a perfect life to the world.

But the more time Riya spent on social media, the more anxious and depressed she became. She felt like she was living a lie, like she was pretending to be someone she wasn't.

One day, Riya's grandmother, Dadi, sat her down for a talk. Dadi had always been wise and insightful, and Riya valued her opinion.

"Riya, beta," Dadi said, "social media is like a trap. It's a never-ending cycle of comparison and competition. But it's not real life. Real life is about connections, relationships, and experiences."

Riya listened intently as Dadi continued, "You don't need social media to validate your worth. You are so much more than your online image. You are a bright, talented, and beautiful young woman."

Riya felt a weight lift off her shoulders as she listened to Dadi's words. She realized that she had been living someone else's dream, instead of her own.

From that day on, Riya made a conscious effort to limit her social media use. She started to focus on real-life connections and experiences. She joined a book club, started volunteering at a local animal shelter, and even took up painting.

Riya's life transformed in ways she never thought possible. She felt more confident, more fulfilled, and more connected to the world around her.

As she looked back on her social media obsession, Riya realized that it had been a trap, just like Dadi had said. But she was grateful for the lesson she had learned.

In the end, Riya's story spread like wildfire on social media, inspiring others to reevaluate their own relationship with technology.

And Riya? She was too busy living her best life to worry about what others thought.
