GROWING YEARS
Chirping and twitting so loud,
Brought up the glowing sun from the cloud.
From its song, it welcomes a new day.
Accomplish your goal they say,
Attain it without a sigh of dismay,
Celebrating a graceful new day.
When it prances in the grey,
It raises its feathers to sway.
As bells in your feet,
Of raindrops beat.
It welcomes happiness in the clouds so grey,
Celebrating its joy.
Early in the spring days,
Flower burst open the haze,
Spreading its fragrance,
In the back of Beyond.
From its sweet essence, it creeps a smile on our faces,
Celebrating its happiness.
It flies from one flower to the other,
Its fluttery colourful wings flutter carrying it further.
It does its work with glee.
Somewhat similar to a bee,
Celebrating its work gladly.
On its first flight,
It tries to give it a fly.
Even when it falls,
It desires to soar in the sky.
It surely knows it will fly,
Celebrating its first try.
Celebration is a way of living with love and elation,
That we can share with the entire nation.
I am Anura Parida, a 12-year-old creative writer currently studying in the 7th grade. Ever since I can remember, words have been my closest companions, and poetry has become my heartfelt expression.
Through my writing, I explore the tapestry of emotions that color my world – from the joy of friendship to the contemplation of life's mysteries.
Besides being a writer, I am an avid reader, devouring classics and contemporary literature alike, which helps me expand my creative horizons. Art, in all its forms, holds a special place in my heart, and I enjoy sketching and painting to complement my poetic musings. Thank you for reading, and I look forward to sharing this beautiful world of creative writing with you all!
A task was given to a group of 7 students of my class (class VII section J Sai International School, Bhubaneswar) to make a scientific presentation in the annual science exhibition. I was chosen as the team leader.
We selected " PREVENT POACHING & SAVE FOREST "
as our project. I divided responsibility to each member of our team. I and my friend Soundarjo took the charge of making a diagramatic presentation of our project.
We were busy drawing the margin on a large drawing sheet and putting shades of color. Soundarjo is expert in drawing. She made my task easier. During this process accidentally she sat on my bag . It produced a sound mimicking the breakage of a plastic item. When we opened the bag, we found that my long plastic scale is broken.
" Sorry Trishna ", said my friend.
" Don't bother. I have got an extra scale. It will do ." I replied.
After the class was over we all dispersed.
" Good bye friends. See you tomorrow," I said to everyone .
Next day my friend came to the class with a new scale. She put it in my bag with a slip of paper.
Reaching home when I opened the piece of paper I saw a small note written on it by my friend. With much curiosity I read those few lines .
" Dear Trishna. You are great. I broke your scale. You didn't mind. I didn't mark any signs of anger or disapproval on your face . Rather you told me nothing to be bothered. I am really sorry. "
After reading these few lines I analyzed the thought process of my friend. She might be a student of class seven but her thought process and action are quite matured . I was surprised to see how much seriously she had taken this small incident. I am fortunate to have a friend like her and proud of her .
My scale was broken. I got a new scale and a true friend. This true friendship can't be measured by any scale.

Has his own view
Though only ten years old
Behaves years and years old
Full of doubts and queries
Regarding Gods and Fairies
And age old customs
Practised through years
Insisting on answers
Without mincing matters.
