CONFIDENCE

G. Saratha Kamakshi

Climb up the hill

And all the difficulties I shall bear

Be strong as a brick

So that laziness doesn't prick

Yes it's confidence

Which gives a beautiful consequence

GUESS, IT IS CHESS!

Ashmanth. A

It moves,

It takes,

When it finishes, it breaks.

Oh no! Bishop comes too far,

Suddenly,, it starts a spar.

The jumping knight marching forward,

Turning Bishop to retreat backward.

The humble yet mighty pawn

Ready to take the lead,

The king, still follows the creed.

There she comes, tearing apart,

People frantic, run helter- skelter.

The huge rook strikes fast,

She plays life till her last,

Alas! It is a check! What would he do?

His Majesty leaves too.

Chess,  the tricky game of life,

Is filled with strifes and rides.

LETTER FROM MY JEJE (GRAND FATHER)

Trishna Sahoo

Back ground:

My Jeje (grand father) and Mummy (grand mother) were in Hyderabad for more than a fortnight. Jehe had a heart problem. He had gone for check up . I was a bit worried. He is undoubtedly my best friend. I was feeling bored at times, missing my grand parents.

One day over phone my Jeje and I were talking. I told Jeje, " Jeje! Retired life is pleasurable. Is not it?With full freedom you are moving around without any stress.

But for me truly life is stressful . Go to school, swimming class. No mobile. No TV . Only read , read and read. "

Then came a reply with a life learning lesson from my Jeje.

************

Dear Natuni ,

Love to you . Thanks for speaking your mind .

I felt your words, "JEJE ! Life is stressful. "I disagree with your statement.

Life is a gift to be enjoyed.

No body will give you happiness or enjoyment.

You have to make every situation enjoyable and happy.

One mantra to avoid stress is to give up the following habits.

1. Give up over expectations.

2. Give up comparing  with others.

Be satisfied with, what you have.

Have self confidence.

Your self confidence is different from others .

Don't get angry.

Don't involve in  disputed situation.

Do what you can and leave happily what you can't.

Be God Loving.

Enjoy every moment. If you enjoy your study, enjoy your hobby, enjoy with your friends and family members you will not find time to think of stress.

You will find yourself a changed child, without any stress and unhappiness.

I pray Lord Jagannath to take care of you. I am confident you can do it. No body can put you into a stressful situation without your consent. It is said that STRESS IS LIKE A BIRD ,MOVING AROUND YOU . UNLESS YOU INVITE IT WILL NEVER COME AND BUILD ITS NEST IN YOU .

Stay healthy, happy and blessed.

YOURS

Loving JEJE

A PROTEST FOR THE SEA

Anura Parida

Have you ever wondered about an unimaginable world under the seas? Most of us have already imagined it as a colorful place surrounded by corals and mermaids and mermen swimming around a palace glimmering with gold and within that palace there will be the King with a great beard swaying in the sea waves and in his hand will be a Trident made of pure gold which will be the most powerful weapon in the world and then the story begins…

The Little Mermaid story has portrayed this image in our mind, which first comes to our mind when we think about the underwater world. Though that story was the creativity of the writer who too was fascinated by the underwater world, similar to that writer I too am fascinated by the underwater world so I took a trip to the underwater world…

It is an exquisite day to be on a beach, the sun is high up in the sky, the sky is clear and the air is racing with enthusiasm but unfortunately, I am in a boat not on the beach. Why on a boat you ask?  Today was the day we all were waiting for, a day when we will get to know who is ready to face the great and mighty sea. My Family and I are going to experience scuba diving. “Nothing will happen if you have the faith to live and the faith in god,” says the boatman. I do not disagree but still, my little heart is jumping up and down until it comes in my mouth. On the other hand, another man on the boat began to tell about deadly disasters, which happened in the sea eight years ago! It really did not matter because time has changed and eight years was a long time back and now things might have been solved. Still, my heart was pounding; my poor little heart could not do anything except keep an uneasy look on my face. Seeing that my father came up to me and said “Don’t worry, think positive, and don’t listen to people who make you feel uneasy and demotivated. Just keep in mind ‘Nothing is impossible in the world’ and that attitude will do all good.” He whispered to me and gave me a fist bump cooling me down a little. He himself had a moto, that helped him to keep his Chin, held up high ‘Attitude is everything’ cannot deny that.

It was finally my turn to go, A few other people went into the sea, and all went well until a child around my age went diving and came out huffing and puffing because of a lack of oxygen. That is when my cooled heart reacted again and started pounding and unfortunately, I was next and the last one to go. My mother and father calmed me down a little, I wore all the equipment, and with a last glance at the boat and the sky, I jumped into the sea. Not knowing what was waiting for me beneath the sea.

As soon as the sea had completely swallowed me all I could see was blue, which was making me feel blue. I am not lying but I did have trouble in breathing purpose, as at times, I got confused about whether to breathe from my mouth or my nose, and until that time, I began to suffocate. Then I got a feeling that a creature was tingling my feet as I looked down, I saw an entire school of angelfish surrounding my feet. Then a diver who had come with me took out a bottle sprayer, which sprayed bread crumps attracting a school of clownfish. The fear I was facing vanished in thin air or should I say thin waves. I then, with all my courage swam farther down to the coral reefs. I saw something I did not expect to see… A group of divers destroying the coral reefs makes my heart ache. The fishes who had surrounded me all swam to the coral reefs that once used to be their home. In addition, even worse, a cruel diver captured some of the fish to sell them separating the poor ones from their families who are now homeless. The diver who was with me saw this whole mess and tried to stop this disaster from continuing and I too followed him but instead of a reply, they pushed us hard and continued the disaster. Though most of us think a fish does not cry, I too once used to think but what I saw in real life made me think how hurt will be the fish now. With now no home to live where will these fishes go? The coral reefs themselves take 10,000 years to fully grow and these nasty people took it off within minutes? I felt extremely bad for them. When some humans have extremely bad financial conditions people throw them out of their houses. They can approach their government and they can get help from the government and live a life. However, these poor creatures do not have any government where they can go and solve their problems. If they become homeless, they become homeless for the rest of their life!

Therefore, the diver recorded a video of the nasty people doing their nasty job so that we can spread awareness of what people are doing just for show in their aquariums and replace the 10,000-year-old coral reef with plastic ones, which is harmful to marine life. Then with all the evidence we swam back to the surface once again to see the sky and the sun shining brighter than ever as if proud of what we had done. My mother and father were anxiously waiting for us, as it had been above time that anyone had been in the water so far on the boat. When my father asked the reason why we were so late I explained the entire matter to everyone on board and showed him or her the video of the coral reef destroyers. There were a lot of gasps and signs throughout my explanations. However, as my explanation was ending, I concluded my speech with “Let us do something for their welfare and stop capturing them for shows in an aquarium. Instead, we should do something new for humanity and bring back the lost glory of Mother Earth to her, which we had destroyed for our entertainment and the sake of progress. I am not denying that progress is not necessary but as they say, “Too much of anything is bad”. Too much progress can bring marine life on Earth to its end, which is not recommended by any of us. So, let’s stop Mother Earth from dying and let the coral reefs of the Oceans live for many other centuries to come…” With that, I ended my speech and everyone on board started to clap until their hands turned red and my parents both squeezed me into a bone-breaking hug.

For me, this experience was the best of all trips I had on a beach and this trip also taught me something important to remember my entire life that, we should never be afraid of doing something new. Nor should we step aside when we hear negative comments. Moreover, the most important is to believe and do the correct thing and God will always help you succeed. I felt this trip worthy and I am proud of myself for taking a small step to save Mother Earth from dying because, if we don’t save her who are we to call her mother?

Now I am standing at the same beach again taking in all I had experienced in the form of salty air. I watched the waves splashing against my feet as if calling me back into the sea but as the sun started to set on the horizon. I stepped a step back to capture this splendid view for my heart safe to keep my fish friends in my mind about what an impressive lesson they taught me. It was soon time for me to say goodbye to my beloved sea. However, before I went I whispered, “I will be back soon to see you, till then goodbye, and don’t forget me…” I said loud enough for the sea to hear me and with that one glance, I turned my way, opening my palm to see a seashell I collected in memory of this day and made sure, it had a special place in my heart making sure this memory will never fade away.
